THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal profession and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
